The Defense Readiness Optimization Challenge Is Enterprise-Wide

Mission Readiness Today Isn’t Just a Function of Availability—It is a Test of Precision, Agility, and Alignment Across the Enterprise.

What’s Standing in the Way

Across the defense landscape, the definition of readiness is being reshaped, and it’s no longer just about EXREPs or FMC/PMC. It’s delivering lethality in contested environments with constrained resources and aging platforms—it’s about sustained capability despite institutional knowledge walking out the door and uneven digital transformation efforts threatening obsolescence. Our commands charged with maintenance, sustainment, and operational support are being asked to do more, faster, yet modernization trade-offs lead to more ship and aircraft maintenance delays.

Why Do So Many Organizations Still Struggle With The Fundamentals Of Enterprise Readiness?

Operational data is fragmented. Resource planning is reactive. Training pipelines and personnel readiness remain disconnected from evolving mission requirements. Too often, performance improvement efforts are isolated or disconnected from the real drivers of defense readiness optimization. What’s missing isn’t effort, it’s often a combination of focus and insight—the ability to identify the critical few factors that can move the mission, and align people, tools, and decision-making around them.

Enterprise AIRSpeed Program – Driving Improvements in Naval Aviation Readiness

NOVACES served as a key partner in the Enterprise AIRSpeed program for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), delivering integrated process improvement services across maintenance, logistics, and administrative functions. This multi-year engagement represented the first effort to fully integrate Theory of Constraints (TOC), Lean, and Six Sigma (LSS) as a unified methodology to drive improvements in Naval Aviation readiness and cost efficiency. The program was delivered at over 28 CONUS and OCONUS sites and aircraft carriers, including eight Fleet Readiness Centers and one overseas location. The team provided services such as Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) training, mentoring, facilitation, strategic planning, and performance management.

Our Point of View

NOVACES helps organizations close the gap between what matters and what moves. We bring a capability—not a methodology—that combines structured problem-solving, human-centered change, and next-generation data tools to accelerate readiness at the point of need. Our teams help uncover high-leverage drivers of performance and deploy tailored solutions, often pairing seasoned operational experts with data science and AI toolsets, to deliver outcomes that matter. We don’t chase certifications or checklists; we build momentum around processes that work.

Build for What’s Next

We believe readiness goals can be achieved by understanding what actually moves the needle. That’s the essence of our problem solving approach, using real-time data to isolate what matters most, apply pressure to the right levers, and track change where it counts. Whether it’s improving fleet throughput, optimizing crew readiness, or accelerating digital sustainment, NOVACES helps leaders see the signal through the noise, and act with clarity and accountability.
